Circle have sent us a sneak peak at the front cover of their forthcoming album The Middle. Dark, light and magical. We gave it our thumbs up!

We’re pleased to announce that Happy has a new home. It will look and smell a little familiar for a while until our little web monkeys get it up and running just right. Many thanks to all the bands and venues that made Happy possible. So for all new music news please visit the new dedicated Happy site.
Monday Records site re-design is happening live. A lot isn’t working the way it should but will be very soon. We’re aiming to finish by the end of October. The goal? A community based Sydney Record Label that works in the way that a good blog does.
please don’t play the match maker
please don’t be a player hater
if you dig her recent work
then you should go congratulate her
Mad props to the Dew Process crew for signing these guys last year. Sadly we have not heard any of it on Aussie radio yet but caught this on Youtube a couple of weeks ago. A year after discovering them I’m still not used to the name but their Ben Gibbard come Sufjan Stevens vibe is our cup of tea any day.
For those who were involved with Happy! last year, it was a cross platform art event that invited musicians and poets to share the stage at a number of Sydney inner west venues and make a night of it. Other folk such as DPM assisted with the branding and logo design of the event. It doesn’t hurt that we share the same office space. It was popular then and Monday Records continue to get performance requests in particular from poets. Here at MR we’d like to see more of this happening out there! But if it doesn’t happen don’t fret, we’re thinking about Happy V2.0 for 2011. It will be bigger and it will be better. It may even need it’s own website and name upgrade. Happy Music Festival? Happy Arts Festival? Maybe.
Sam Shinazzi bringing us some sweet inner west vibes. Plus how could you possibly go past a teddy bear and an ape in a boxing match?
Monday Records is going through a process of rediscovering who we are and why we were put on this planet. It’s not the first time either. We still receive emails from bands and poets about Happy and we still get sent demos from bands that want to be signed. That was fun and we’ll probably do it again later in the year. But for now we’re turning our focus toward recorded music and the releasing there of. The guys at DPM Creative Group (who we are clearly in cahoots with), are helping re-design and re-develop our brand and website. We’re going to be doing this on the fly so expect ongoing changes. What will emerge is the true heart and soul of the label and people will be able to see that (we hope). We’re also talking to a couple of Sydney bands / singer songwriters so expect some growth on the stable front.
Circle are looking for a drummer folks so please get in touch if you think you know someone or you think you are the one perhaps?!?
