Showing no signs of slowing down, Spookyland have just embarked on their first national headline tour to launch the Rock and Roll Weakling EP.
Hot off the news that Canvasback will be releasing their debut across the Pacific in North America, we’re excited to announce that Play It Again Sam will be doing the same for the UK/EU market. Having worked with the likes of Dinosaur Jr., Pixies and Ghostpoet we’re looking forward to PIAS working their label magic with our boy Spooks!
In tour news, the band will be traveling the East Coast throughout September, headlining their EP launch tour in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney (full dates below). The Brisbane shows will also be part of the enormous music conference and festival that is BIGSOUND 2014 and will play host to music industry representatives from around the world.
The band are also proud to announce that they’ll be taking the Rock and Roll weakling tour overseas to perform in Los Angeles, New York City including KCRW and the CMJ Music Marathon before jetting over the Atlantic to play London and continental Europe.
Having only released Rock and Roll Weakling a few months ago, the man behind the voice Marcus Gordon says the opportunity to play the U.S.A., Europe and the UK is “still surreal” (TheMusic.com). Judging by the reception the EP has garnered from Pitchfork, NME and Triple J, we hope that the gravity of Sydney’s own Rock and Roll weakling will become yet more visceral with each show. Be sure to share the dates and ticket links below.
Sometimes playful, sometimes apocalyptic americana – NME
An utterly magnetizing vulnerability – Pitchfork
Heart-wrenching vocals – Purple Sneakers
